Exeter, N.H. — Suzanne Joy (Goss) MacKay passed away suddenly on Monday, May 28, 2018. She was born May 5, 1954, to the late Willard and Leona (Walling) Goss, in Norfolk, Va.; she recently celebrated the 34th anniversary of her 30th birthday. Joy began her life by the ocean she loved, and lived near all her life: Virginia Beach, Portugal, Seacoast New Hampshire, Maine, Italy, and Vermont’s Upper Valley. Joy lived a life dedicated in service to others; she served in United States Navy, in law enforcement, and later as a nurse, where she found her calling caring for the elderly. She graduated from Norwich University with a BSN in 2004, and obtained her Masters in Psychology from Walden University in 2008.

Joy was a friend to all animals, often taking in stray cats and dogs. She loved Stephen King and Dean Koontz, and aspired to one day publish her own thrillers, which she often worked on long into the night. Family was deeply important to Joy, which was especially evident at Christmas, her favorite holiday. Her ambrosia salad was a staple at the Thanksgiving table (she could never resist eating a heaping scoop before dinner started). She is so very loved by her brother Wayne Goss, her children Jacquelyn Gill, Joshua MacKay, and Jillian Mackay, and her nephews Jordan and Jared Goss, who miss her dearly.

An hour of calling will be held on Friday June 1, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Ave Dover, N.H. A service honoring Joy will follow at the Funeral Home at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joy’s name to the NH SPCA.
