Claremont — Vital Communities will join forces with several Claremont-area groups to host a discussion on housing and the future of the city.

“Vital Communities is glad to partner with a number of thoughtful organizations to host a conversation about a key issue facing Claremont and other communities in the greater Upper Valley region,” Vital Communities Executive Director Tom Roberts said in a news release.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 on Thursday night in the Sugar River Technical School’s Goodwin Community Room, according to the release.

People who work or live in Claremont are invited to attend, and a light meal will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Attendees are asked to register in advance at vitalcommunities.org/housing. The discussion will be facilitated by New Hampshire Listens.

“Adequate housing for the workforce is among the top concerns of citizens and officials in Claremont. Safe, affordable housing is one of the most important needs we all face,” said David Putnam, a member of the Claremont Planning Board and co-founder of Healthy Vibrant Claremont, one of the groups co-hosting the event.

Lebanon’s Granite Air Center Installs Solar Array

Lebanon — Granite Air Center Inc. recently partnered with Norwich Solar Technologies to install a 218.1-kilowatt net-metered photovoltaic system on the rooftop of the facility’s main hangar. The array, completed earlier this month by the White River Junction-based solar company, is the city’s largest to date.

The solar array will provide Granite Air with long-term energy cost reduction and stability through the integration of clean, renewable solar energy, the companies said in a news release announcing the array.

“We love the idea that we can offset a large part of our carbon footprint through solar,” Granite Air Center co-owner and COO Jason Archambeault said of the array. “We believe following socially responsible business practices is just the right thing to do. And using a local solar company to do the work also supports local jobs.”

Lebanon Chamber To Host Golf Tournament

Lebanon — The Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce plans to host its 26th annual Jim Wechsler Memorial Golf Classic on June 6 at Eastman Golf Links in Grantham. Tee off is set for noon.

The tournament benefits scholarships for adult education in the Lebanon area, according to a news release from the chamber. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

The event honors a sportsman, coach and business leader who have had tremendous impact on the community.

Edward Jones Ranks on Fortune 500

Lebanon — Financial services firm Edward Jones has once again ranked among the Fortune 500, making 2018 the sixth consecutive year the firm has made the list, according to a news release from Edward Jones. The list is published by Fortune magazine, which ranks the largest U.S. companies by revenue. In this year’s rankings, Edward Jones moved up 27 spots to No. 376.
