White River Junction — Senior Morgan Pero crossed the 100-point mark Monday to lead the Hartford High girls lacrosse team during a 17-2 defeat of Spaulding.

Pero finished with a team-high five goals for the Hurricanes (11-3). Alice Dwyer added three goals and two assists. Michaela Ricker and Greer McCarty each had two goals.

“The scoring was really spread out. It was a total team effort on senior night with a lot of great energy by the kids,” Hartford coach Heather Hartford said. “I’m really pleased with the overall play from everyone. The girls have had a great season.”

Emily Ricker, Carolyn North and Caitlin Gaudet each had a goal and an assist. Zoey Pfeiffer scored a goal. Sophomore Anna Lynch added her first career varsity goal. Makenna Druge added two assists and Tayler Simmons had one assist.

Hartford led, 10-1, at halftime. Third in the VPA Division II standings, the Canes close the regular season with a visit to Woodstock on Friday night.

Baseball

Hanover 5, John Stark 4

Weare, n.h. — The Marauders scored four runs during the third inning for a 5-4 lead.

John Stark had taken a 4-1 lead with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Braxton McNulty helped Hanover answer in the ensuing top of the third with a three-run double to spark a four-run rally. Jack Loftus added two hits for the Marauders (9-4).

Moises Celaya pitched a six-hitter, striking out seven Generals while throwing 113 pitches, allowing six hits and zero earned runs. Hanover hosts Pelham today.

Woodstock 20, Poultney 8

Poultney, Vt. — Senior Owen Tarleton had a career game, going 5-for-6 with four stolen bases and eight RBIs to lead the Wasps (6-7).

“It was probably Owen’s best game of the year, which is saying a lot considering what he’s been doing all season for us,” said Woodstock coach Jason Tarleton, Owen’s father. “It’s been fun to see him enjoy success and to see him continuing to progress as a senior.”

Sam Mitchell had two hits and scored five runs for the Wasps. Starting pitcher Chase Christiansen had two hits and scored three runs. Christiansen went the first 3 ⅔ innings.

Woodstock visits Leland & Gray on Wednesday.

Owen Tarleton plans to play at Fisher College in Boston next season. The Falcons were 26-24 this season and play in the Association of Independent Institutions.

Hartford 6Mount Anthony 4

Bennington, Vt. — Walker Farley allowed four hits, two walks and three earned runs in seven innings as the Hurricanes improved to 4-9.

Hunter Perkins launched a two-run home run in the first inning to get Hartford on the board. Tyler Hamilton was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Alex Bushway was 2-for-4. Hartford took the lead in the seventh inning on a balk call that scored Hamilton and a sacrifice fly by Riley Packard that scored Bushway.

Hartford hosts Burr & Burton on Thursday.

Windsor 23, Springfield 1 (5)

Springfield, Vt. — The Yellowjackets (10-4) benefitted from 12 walks and seven errors by the Cosmos.

Ryland Richardson, Robert Slocum, Ben Meagher, Dakota Page and Justin Smith each had two hits for Windsor. Seth Balch pitched the first four innings, striking out 10 while surrendering a pair of hits and one walk. Adam Stapleton pitched an inning of relief, striking out one.

Windsor visits Mill River on Wednesday.

Stevens 8, Kearsarge 6

North Sutton — Derrick Stanhope earned the victory by scattering six hits and seven walkss for the Cardinals (9-6).

Stanhope added a double and a single and scored two runs. Drew Grenier had a single, scored three runs and pitched two innings for the save. Aidan Cahill executed a two-strike, suicide-squeeze bunt during the fourth inning to tie the score, 4-4.

Alex Taylor and Trey Theriault each had RBI singles for the Cardinals, who host Newfound on Wednesday night.

South Royalton 15Whitcomb-Rochester 7

Bethel — Jacob Hewitt was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Royals (12-2).

Carder Stratton scored three runs and pitched two strong innings of relief for SoRo, striking out three. Starting pitcher Logan Martin went four innings, striking out seven, and had a single and two runs scored. George Carr also scored a pair of runs.

Timber Russell was 3-for-4 with a RBI for Whitchester. Damian Young-Burbano had two hits and three stolen bases. Matt Brown, Zach Rhoades and Kevin Kingsbury split time on the mound, combining for five strikeouts.

South Royalton visits Sharon on Thursday to close the regular season.

Woodsville 10Blue Mountain 5

Woodsville — Starting pitcher Zach Moore drove in three to help the Engineers (12-3).

Moore was 2-for-4 and pitched the first five innings, recording eight strikeouts while allowing two earned runs. Cooper Davidson went the final two innings, allowing two earned runs while fanning two.

Seanon May was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Donny Bowman added two hits, two RBIs and scored a pair of runs. Woodsville visits Lin-Wood on Friday.

Milford 1, Lebanon 0

Lebanon — Senior Derek Griffin threw a four-hitter but the Raiders ended their season at 3-12. Griffin struck out five batters, walked one and the Spartans scored an unearned run on an errant throw from the catcher to the third baseman.

Hunter Boutin had two hits and Jaret Armstrong and Ryan Nicholson each had one. They, along with Matt Eylander, comprise Lebanon’s graduating seniors.

“We were in a lot of good games this year,” Lebanon coach Doug Ashey said. “We just didn’t manage to win a lot of them.”

InterLakes 15, Mascoma 5 (5)

Meredith, n.h. — Caleb McAlister was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Devin Tetreault was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Mascoma (2-12), which issued numerous walks, hosts Berlin on Wednesday.

Softball

South Royalton 15, MSJ 4

South Royalton — Blake Southworth pitched five innings for the victory, striking out eight, and Lilly Hudson had three singles to pace the SoRo attack.

Southworth, Hannah White and Paige Ballentine each had two hits. Kelsi Rogers-Melvin and Macey Carbino singled. SoRo, which scored 10 runs during the third inning, hosts Blue Mountain on Friday.

Woodsville 22 Blue Mountain 3 (5)

Woodsville — Alyssa Prest went all five innings in the circle and was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Engineers (14-1).

Prest struck out seven and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks. Morgan Wagstaff hit a three-run home run during an 11-run fifth inning.

“We had nine players with hits and nine with RBIs,” said Woodsville coach Dana Huntington, whose team closes the regular season Friday when it visits Lin-Wood. “We took a lot of walks, but the walks were the result of waiting for good pitches to hit.”

Stevens 14, Kearsarge 0

Claremont — Jenna Pond had three hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals (13-2). Ellee Grenier and Makayla Maccioli each had two hits and two RBIs. Ryann Ryder had a single and three RBIs.

Madison Lapsley threw a two-hitter and struck out nine Cougars. Stevens hosts Newfound at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sunapee 24, Pittsfield 1 (5)

Sunapee — Elizabeth Bennett was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs for the Lakers (6-7). Erin Moynihan and Miah Hamm each had two hits and a combined three RBIs.

Hannah Cooney went the first three innings in the circle, striking out seven without allowing a hit. Anah Durkee tossed two innings of relief.

The Lakers host Hinsdale on Wednesday.

Hanover 12, Monadnock 6

Hanover — Bri Elder went 4-for-4 to pace the Marauders (4-10).

Olivia Peterson added three hits and scored three runs. Sam Gibbs pitched a six-hitter, striking out two and walking two for Hanover, which hosts Kearsarge today.

Springfield 9, Windsor 5

Springfield, Vt. — Windsor junior Jasmine Frazer provided the Yellowjackets’ only hit, a three-run double during the first inning.

Pitcher Carah Rugg allowed four hits and struck out eight Cosmos while walking 12 and hitting three.

Springfield took the lead by scoring three runs in the second inning, using bunts that Windsor head coach Heather Stearns said gave her defense trouble.

The Yellowjackets (4-10) travel to Mill River on Wednesday.

Mount Anthony 23 Hartford 0 (5)

Bennington, Vt. — Bianca Severance’s double was the lone hit for the Vermont Division II Hurricanes against the Division I Patriots.

Kylee Beaucage and Sam Walz split time in the circle for the Canes, who will host Burr & Burton on Friday.

Milford 34, Lebanon 0

Lebanon — The Raiders fell 0-15 and close the season on Wednesday at Manchester West. Milford is 15-0.

Boys Tennis

Woodstock 6Burr & Burton 1

Manchester, Vt. — The Wasps won four singles matches to improve to 4-6.

Oliver Wilson (6-4, 6-1), Ethan Earle (6-4, 6-3) and Carl Gebhardt (6-3, 6-1) all won in straight sets. Danny Drebber won, 6-7, 7-6, 10-3, for the fourth Woodstock singles win.

Gardner Gottsegen and Henry Green won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles. Blake Heston and Noah Anderson added a 6-1, 6-0 win. Woodstock fell to the Bulldogs at home, 4-3, during the season opener.

The Wasps host Bellows Falls today for senior day.

Schroeder Honored

Hanover — Dartmouth senior co-captain Julia Schroeder received the International Tennis Association’s Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship on Monday.

The award goes to a Division I women’s tennis player who displays inspiring dedication and commitment to her team.

Men’s Tennis

Drake and Broom Recognized

Hanover — Dartmouth head coach Chris Drake and sophomore star Charlie Broom were honored by the ITA on Monday. Drake was named the Northeast Coach of the Year, while Broom was named the Northeast Player to Watch.

This year’s Ivy League Coach of the Year, Drake has accumulated an overall record of 121-70 and 34-22 in conference play during his eight years at Dartmouth. In 2017-18, he led the Big Green to its first-ever ECAC indoor title and its first Ivy title since 1997. Broom was 13-6 at No. 1 singles for Dartmouth.
