Goffstown, N.H. — William (Bill) Lancaster, 84, former long-time resident of Hanover and New London, N.H., passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, surrounded by family.

Bill was born in Lynn, Mass. on Aug. 21,1933, to Frederick and Gertrude (McGregor) Lancaster and grew up in Saugus, Mass. He left college to join the Army, serving as a meteorologist during the Korean Conflict. In 1960, Bill graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He had a distinguished career in the health services field serving as a Pharmaceutical Chemist, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, Vt., and the Director of Pharmacy and Vice President of Clinical Services at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover/Lebanon.

Throughout his life, Bill was an active participant in civic, fraternal and social organizations. He was an Emeritus Member of the Board of Governors for the Shrine Hospital for Children, Montreal, PQ, Canada.

Bill was devoted to his family, friends, his career and colleagues, and community service.

He had a passion for teaching, fishing, genealogy, travel, and a love of Scottish lore and playing the bagpipes.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Bette; his children: Janice, David, W. James; his brother Charles, and their families. He was predeceased by his son, Dana, in 2017. At Bill’s request, his life will be privately celebrated by his family.
