Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hosts Car Seat Recycling Event

Lebanon — The public can bring expired or broken car seat to Dartmouth-Hitchcock medical center from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, as part of the hospital’s car seat recycling event.

The event will take place in parking lot 20, 1 Medical Center Drive in Lebanon. Staff from the hospital will ensure that car seats are disassembled and properly recycled.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will also be available to provide one-on-one consultation on proper car seat installation. For an installation consultation, bring the car seat and its instruction book, and your vehicle manual to the appointment.

Because car seats are made from plastic, they become brittle and less effective with time. Most car seats are stamped with an expiration date. If there is only a manufacturing date, the car seat expires six years after that date. Car seats that have been involved in a car accident are also no longer considered safe.

For more information or to schedule a car seat check, call the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Women’s Health Resource Center at 603-650-2600.
