North Haverhill — A 30-year-old Grafton man has been indicted on two simple assault charges stemming from a February arrest on Interchange Drive in West Lebanon.

Shawn Mooney allegedly attacked Lebanon police Cpl. Michael Roberts on Feb. 22 before fleeing on foot into a marshy area behind Wal-Mart.

A Grafton County grand jury recently indicted him on two misdemeanor simple assault charges in connection with the morning incident that drew a large police presence.

The indictments allege that Mooney punched Roberts in the face and pressed his thumb into Roberts’ eye.

Roberts sought medical attention and was released from the hospital that day.

Mooney will be arraigned on those charges on May 14.

Mooney currently is being held on $20,000 cash bail. He previously was arraigned on first-degree assault and resisting arrest charges in connection with the same incident.
