Wilder, Vt. —
Donald took his first math teaching position at Stoneham High School in Stoneham, Mass. Shortly after he was Guidance Director at Pelham High School in Pelham, N.H. Then he moved to Concord, Vt. where he was principal of Concord High School. He then worked at Whitcomb High School in Bethel, Vt. as a guidance counselor. He then worked as the Guidance counselor at Windsor High School for fifteen years. Donald retired from Masonic High School in New Ipswitch, N.H. After retiring Don worked for the last three years of his life at the Norwich Transfer Station where he met and visited with the Norwich residents who were wonderful to him. He especially enjoyed talking politics with Congressman Peter Welch. Don’s health declined and he had to leave regretfully.
On Jan. 29, 1972, he married Cynthia Davis in the Methodist Church in Lebanon, N.H. They made their home in Nashua, N.H. until 1985 when they moved to Wilder, Vt., where they have made their home ever since.
Donald was a dedicated Red Sox Fan. He loved listening to the ‘oldies” especially the Beatles. He collected stamps, coins and baseball cards.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Bernie & Millie Eames, his beloved Aunt Marion Montgomery, his cousins Geoffrey Ovington and Alden Eames. Brother-in-law Ed Lipof, and Donald Davis, Junior Davis, Ida Davis, Bea Davis, and Suzanna Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; three daughters, Heidi Eames of Craftsbury Common, Vt., Holly Eames Bee of Quechee, Vt., Brigette Eames of Springfield, Vt.; seven grandchildren, Ida Eames, Silas Hunt, Daisy Bee, Orian Bee, Gavin Bee, Abigail Joi Eames, and Lillianna Mongillo; as well as a grandchild expected in July; also a sister, Susanna Lipof of Marson Mill, Mass.; and cousin, Judy Ovington of Massachusetts; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mitch Hunt and Craig Bee are his wonderful sons-in-law. He also had many nieces and nephews that meant the world to him especially Kim, Krystal & Kevin. He also leaves behind his two best friends, Jerry Green and Fred Hite.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 5, 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, School Street in Lebanon. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Mascoma Savings Bank, Maple Street, White River Jct. Vt. for his beloved granddaughter he has been raising for the last 10 years under the name of Abigail Joi Eames for her education.
