Brooksville, Fla. — Jere Stephen Smith II, age 77, of Brooksville died Monday, April 16, 2018, at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Newark, N.J. and came to the area in 2017 from North Carolina having lived in Brooksville from 2006 until 2017.

He was a custodian with the public school system, a volunteer fireman for over 50 years, a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Mary K. Smith of Brooksville; sons and daughters-in-law: Jere S. III and Regina Smith of Charlestown, N.H., Darryl and Judy Smith of Lake O’ Lakes, Fla., Kyle and Stacy Smith of Middleton, Mass.; sisters: Nicki Coffaro of Bradenton, Jan Smith and her husband, Bob Biersack of Lexington, Va.; four granddaughters: Caitlin, Emma, Ella and Lydia.
