Residents will meet at 11 a.m. in Springfield Town Hall on Tuesday to consider a proposed zoning change and decide town elections, with the polls remaining open until 7 p.m. Voters will meet again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, to address the remainder of the warrant.

They’ll also pick a replacement for the longtime town clerk, who is retiring.
The town budget stands at $1.3 million, which represents an $11,000 increase in gross spending but would mean about $20,000 less in the overall tax levy, officials said in budget documents. Outside articles are decreasing, too — to $205,000 in total requests from last year’s $260,000.
Separate spending requests include $99,000 for a new self-contained breathing apparatus for the Fire Department and $39,000 for repairs to the town meetinghouse roof. The breathing apparatus would require a two-thirds town vote to commission a municipal bond.
Town officials have not yet estimated how total spending requests would affect the tax rate.
Also on the warrant is a proposal to tweak what the town defines as a “structure” for zoning purposes. If adopted, the measure would consider non-portable electric generators to be structures, along with some kinds of campers and trailers.
There will be a few contested elections, including for the Zoning Board, where Peter Abair, Roderick Corbett, Tanner Jacques and Cody Patten are pursuing two open seats.
Pixie Hill and Annette Granger are both running for town clerk, as incumbent Cynthia Anderson is retiring after 35 years.
The town is planning a community reception in her honor from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, after the floor portion of Town Meeting, with the reception to be held at the Meeting House.
Selectman George McCusker III is unopposed for re-election to his three-year seat.
