Newport, N.H. — Jospeh Anthony Melson, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Born on Jan. 28, 1944, he was the oldest of three children of Joseph Stanley Melson and Julia Melson. He lived his early life in Wellesley, Mass. and his later life in New London and Newport area. Joe was a Mason and a member of the VFW.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard James Melson and survived by his sister, Patricia Shea; brother-in-law, Barry Shea; his niece, Jennifer Shea; and his nephew, Matthew Shea, all from Sunapee, N.H.

With the help of the VNA, meals on wheels and other who assisted him, Joe was able to live independently until recently. His family would like thank the dedicated staff from the Jack Byrne Palliative Care center in Hanover, N.H. and also the dedicated staff of the Woodlawn Care Center in Newport for the companionship and care they gave to Joe.
