Woodstock — After having rejected the town’s proposed operating budget on Saturday, Woodstock voters approved 15 warning articles requesting funds for local nonprofits and decided several uncontested races at the polls on Tuesday.

Residents approved a total of $220,682 in contributions to area nonprofits, including $51,250 for the Norman Williams Public Library (364-217), $39,000 toward Pentangle Arts (358-222) and $34,935 for the Woodstock Area Council on Aging’s Thompson Senior Center (530-54).

On Saturday, voters defeated, 91-48, a proposed $6 million town budget that would have increased taxes by a projected 10 percent. Town officials predicted that a revised town budget would be ready for consideration at a special Town Meeting within the next two months.  

Incumbent Selectboard member L.D. “Butch” Sutherland garnered 467 votes to win re-election in an uncontested race, and Mary Riley received 525 votes to win a first term on the board. She was also unopposed.

Other officials elected in uncontested races include Candace Coburn (524 votes), who was elected to a one-year term as treasurer; Paul Wildasin (467 votes), who will serve a three-year term as a lister; and Greg Camp (528 votes), who won a three-year term as a cemetery commissioner.
