Haverhill — What’s your favorite type of pie? Perhaps you like a sweet blueberry, or a savory meat pie. Maybe you’re a bit untraditional and prefer a pizza pie or quiche. Whatever type of pie your taste buds are craving, you’ll be able to find it at the Cohase Rotary Club’s first Pi(e) Day Dinner Buffet fundraiser, taking place March 14, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Court Street Arts, 75 Court St., in Haverhill.

The event will play off the mathematical constant pi, which can be simplified to 3.14, by inviting people to eat pies on March 14 (abbreviated 3/14). Admission is $8, and guests will have access to more than 100 pies donated by local businesses and individuals.

The money raised will used to benefit classroom equipment and scholarships for local students, said Monique Priestley, president of the Cohase Rotary Club, making the pie day event a fun and playful way to support the local community.

“The mission of the Cohase Rotary Club is to build meaningful friendships and build members up while we serve our local community as well as the world at large,” she said. With DJ’d entertainment and plenty of great food, the fundraiser fits into that goal perfectly.

Similar pie events on July Fourth have become major fundraisers for other local Rotary clubs, and Priestley hopes that the Pi(e) Day Dinner Buffet will do the same for the Cohase Rotary, while giving members of the public a unique night out.

“It’s dinner and dessert for one low cost,” Priestley said. “We’ll have pizza pie, fruit pie, shepherd’s pie, nut pies, quiches, cheese pies, chocolate pies, spinach pies, chicken pot pies, and every other pie you can imagine.”
