Stowe, Vt. — The Dartmouth College ski team won two of the four events on the second and final day of the Vermont Carnival to win the event for the third straight year.

Big Green sophomore Tanguy Nef won the men’s slalom, while Dartmouth took second and third in each of the women’s races as it finished the day with 969 points, 37 ahead of the host Catamounts.

Nef posted the fastest time in both runs on Mount Mansfield to win the gold with a combined time of 1:45.43, besting Vermont’s Max Roiesland by over two seconds.

Teammate Brian McLaughlin was fourth.

Dartmouth’s Foreste Peterson was second in the women’s alpine event, edging teammate Alexa Dlouhy by a tenth of a second in 1:51.05. Vermont’s Paula Moltzan won in 1:49.68.

Big Green freshman Katharine Ogden was second ion the 5-kilometer classic, followed by teammates Abby Drach (third) and Taryn Hunt-Smith (fourth). Vermont’s Alayna Sonnesyn won, but the Green took the victory in the team totals, topping Vermont by a 132-122 margin.

Dartmouth’s Luke Brown was fourth in the men’s 10K classic, edging out teammate Callan DeLine. New Hampshire’s Peter Holmes won the event as the Big Green earned 109 points, only three behind Middlebury for the team title.

Dartmouth will host next weekend’s Winter Carnival on campus. The alpine events will begin on Friday morning at Dartmouth Skiway, while the Nordic events will hopefully take place that same morning at Oak Hill with a tremendous effort during the week to ensure there is enough snow on the course.

Women’s Hockey

Cornell 3, Dartmouth 1

Hanover — Brianna Veerman, Joie Phelps and Paige Lewis scored goals as No. 5 Cornell (14-7-3 overall defeated Dartmouth ( 5-17-1, 3-13-1).

Dartmouth junior Tess Bracken netted her second goal of the weekend in the loss.

Marle Boissonnault made 18 saves in Cornell’s net, while Dartmouth Christine Honor made 28 stops.s

The Big Green will play just two more home games this season, hosting Rensselaer and Union next weekend.

Women’s Basketball

Dartmouth 88, Columbia 65

Hanover — Dartmouth’s Kate Letkewicz and Cy Lippold each posted double-doubles as the Big Green completed the weekend sweep with a win over Columbia.

Letkewicz led the scoring with 20 points and 10 rebounds and Lippold added 15 points and 12 assists. Junior Isalys Quiñones dropped 15 points and senior Andi Norman added 10.

Zimmerman was the conference’s leading scorer before the game, averaging 20.7 points per game to lead the Columbia offense. She finished with 20 points. Columbia freshman Riley Casey dropped 21.

The Big Green scored 35 points in the third quarter alone, the most points scored in a single quarter this season. The win completed Dartmouth’s first weekend sweep in Ivy League action since late February 2016.

The Big Green (12-7 overall, 4-2 Ivy) travels to Penn on Friday.

Colby-Sawyer 80, Husson 72

New London — Down 46-34 at the half, Colby-Sawyer (16-5, 11-3 NAC) came back to defeat Husson (12-9, 10-4).

Three Chargers recorded double-doubles for the second time this season. Tianna Sugars registered her 11th of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Emmani Robinson had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Sunapee’s Lexie Hamilton added 15 points and 14 assists, the second most in progeam history, behind only her 16-assist effort last season.

Men’s Basketball

Columbia 77, Dartmouth 74

New York — Mike Smith scored 20 points, helping Columbia keep Dartmouth winless in the Ivy League.

Quinton Adlesh added 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from distance for the Lions (6-13, 3-3). Lukas Meisner scored 16 points and led with 11 rebounds. Kyle Castlin also scored 16 and Patrick Tape had 10 rebounds.

Adrease Jackson scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Big Green (4-15, 0-6), which is on a nine-game skid. Miles Wright added 19 points.

Husson 80, Colby-Sawyer 63

New London — Mitch Worcester scored 18 points as NAC-leading Husson (16-5 overall, 12-2 league) defeated Colby-Sawyer (13-7, 10-4).

Jourdain Bell led Colby-Sawyer with 19 points.

Men’s Squash

Penn 5, Dartmouth 4

Hanover — Lebanon High graduate Max Reed lost to Dartmouth’s Reg Anderson in the No. 9 spot, 11-6, 11-6, 11-9, but Penn came away with a victory over the Big Green to improve 9-3 this season.

Dartmouth got wins from Brian Giegerich, Sam Epley, Matt Giegerich and Carson Spahr. Penn’s Karim Tarik and James Watson sealed the deal in the final round, winning in four games and five respectively.

Dartmouth (8-4) hosts Princeton today.

Track & Field

Dartmouth WomenSecond in Boston

Boston — The Dartmouth women claimed second at the New England Indoor Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Big Green finished with 89.5 points, ahead of Boston College (84) and behind only Northeastern (130.5).

In all, three individuals won events, as Cha’Mia Rothwell won the 200 meters (24.20 seconds), Maria Garman claimed the top spot in the high jump (1.74 meters) and Julia Valenti took the ‘W’ in the pole vault (3.95 meters).

Nicole Deblasio took fourth in the 200 final (25.03), Rothwell was second in the 60 meter hurdles (8.31) and second in the long jump (6.05).

Additionally, Dartmouth’s 4×800 relay team claimed a victory, crossing in 9:03.77.

The Dartmouth men finished with 25.33 points en route to the seventh-place finish, just back of Brown (26) and New Hampshire (30). Northeastern took home the title with 164 points, just beating out UConn (162.33).

The highlight of the day was a second-place finish by freshman Timothy Zepf in the final of the 500 meters, crossing in 1:04.68, just two-hundredths of a second back of the winner. Amos Cariati was fifth in the 400 final (49.23), Alec Eschholz was fifth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.21) and Dartmouth’s 4×400 relay team was third (3:16.68).
