“It’ll comfortably hold 30 to 40 people inside,” said Paul Coates, director of the Lebanon Recreation and Parks Department. The 250-square-foot structure at Pat Walsh Park also includes an indoor bathroom. The department is looking for donations of ice skates to keep at the hut for anyone to use.
Pat Walsh Park — on Bank Street Extension — is home to two outdoor ice rinks that the department refurbished three years ago. The inaugural s’mores party was a celebration of those upgrades and has been held each year sense.
“We just wanted a way to gather people together at what was now pretty nice ice rinks,” Coates said. Last year attendance was around 100, “which was kind of perfect.”
The s’mores party goes from 6-8 p.m. and is free and open to all. Weather permitting, the ice rinks are open daily from daybreak until 10 p.m. at no cost.
“We’ve actually been able to maintain really good ice,” Coates said of this season’s conditions.
