Sunapee, N.H. — Janet Almira Graves Ramspott, 91, died on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at New London Hospital. She was born in Baldwinville, Mass. on March 4, 1926, the fourth child of Fred and Clara (Greenwood) Graves. Janet graduated from Templeton High School and went on to the Pratt Institute in the secretarial program. After graduation from Pratt Institute she went to work as assistant to the treasurer at Mt. Hermon School for Boys where she met the love of her life, Gordon Lord Ramspott. They were married in Derry, N.H. on Oct. 15, 1949, and moved to Sunapee in 1952. In 1958, they bought their dream home in Sunapee, fondly known as “R” Farm. Janet was the first full time secretary at the Sunapee Central School grades 1-12. In later years she worked as secretary for the Sunapee Water & Sewer Department and was very involved in the first sewer project. Janet’s favorite occupation in life was being able to stay home and raise her son, Dana, who she cherished with all her heart, and being a homemaker. Her home was a favorite of the neighborhood children who always knew there were homemade cookies available anytime.

Janet was involved in many organizations including the Lake Sunapee Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rebekahs, Wendell Crafters, Sunapee Tri-Circle, and Sunapee Historical Society. Gordon and she had the opportunity of traveling throughout the United States, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, England and France.

In her life she was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Ruth Johnson, Barbara Taborelli, George Graves, Robert Graves and Jean Ruxton.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gordon; her son, Dana and his wife, Betty; her granddaughter, Megan Oxland and her husband, Corey, and the apples of her eye, her great-granddaughters, Riley Anne and Jaime Ramspott Oxland all of Sunapee. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Graves of Stamford, N.Y.; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Lake Sunapee Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 1 p.m.
