Enfield, N.H. — Gilbert R. Hernandez, 67, of Enfield, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his family after a long, hard battle against cancer. Gilbert was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 12,1950, to Maria and Modesto Hernandez. Many people know him from the many years he worked for the Marriott hotels in Lebanon, N.H.

Gilbert loved all things Dallas Cowboys, Texas, Boston Red Sox, and most of all spending time with his family. Gilbert will be remembered for his big heart and contagious smile. He enjoyed his weekly trips to the VA hospital in White River Junction where the staff became great friends to him.

Gilbert is predeceased by his mother and father: Maria R. Hernandez & Modesto G. Hernandez; his siblings: Joe Hernandez, Aurora Hayes, & Cristoval Hernandez. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Tremblay, Kimberly Christian; six siblings: Margaret Sipple, Ignacio Hernandez, Modesto Hernandez Jr., Janie Pelko, Simon Hernandez, and David Hernandez; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the VA hospital for all that they did for Gilbert whenever he was there.

Family and friends are invited to Gilbert’s calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Gilbert will be buried in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 10 a.m.
