Gaffney, S.C. — On Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, David F. Champagne, 68, received his wings and flew from this Earth with Beverly, his loving wife of 26 years, by his side. In addition to Beverly, he leaves behind four children: Jeannette Champagne and her husband John Fields; Guy Champagne and his wife Ruth; Ken Champagne and his wife Crystal; and Misty Champagne. He was a loving Grandpa to his seven grandchildren: Anthony, Max, Troy, Alexis, David, Sarah, and Madison. He also leaves behind his brother Robert and sister Delphine, and many nieces and nephews.

David was born in Littleton, N.H. on April 26, 1949. He joined the Army while he was still in high school. He was a Vietnam veteran and proud lifetime member of the VFW. While in the Army, David trained in the communications and the electrical fields. After serving in the military, he returned home to New England and started working for CVPS. He later went on to work for Green Mountain Power and the Littleton Water & Light Department. For the past 16 years, David worked for Mastec, where he wore many hats, from lineman trainer to OSHA coordinator. He loved anything to do with technology and electricity, and was fortunate to be able to turn his passion into a career. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing. David will always be remembered for his quick wit and offbeat sense of humor (he loved lava lamps). His blue eyes would sparkle when he told a joke or explained how the kids in the neighborhood all called him Grandpa.

The family is planning a memorial service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
