Calgary, Alberta — Former Dartmouth College women’s hockey captain and 2016 graduate Laura Stacey is one of 23 players who will represent Team Canada at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Canada’s roster includes three goaltenders, six defensemen and 14 forwards. The team was selected by Laura Schuler, who is head coach of both Dartmouth and the Canadian Olympic Team.

Team Canada features 14 players who won the gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia; six players who won the gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada; and one player who won the gold medal at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy.

Team Canada recently concluded a six-game pre-Olympic series against the United States, dropping the first contest on Oct. 22 before going on a five-game winning streak. Stacey appeared in four of those games.

Prior to being named to the centralization roster in May, Stacey was named the Canadian Women’s Hockey League Rookie of the Year for her 11 goals and 13 assists while playing for the Markham Thunder.

Pyeongchang 2018 will mark the sixth time women’s hockey has been part of the Olympic Winter Games.

In addition to its four gold medals, Canada also claimed silver in 1998.

Canada will look to win its fifth straight Olympic gold medal when the puck drops in South Korea on Feb. 11 against Russia.
