Seale stood at 996 points entering the season. The Eagles started slowly, trailing 16-9 through the first quarter. Seale was fouled while shooting early in the second; the senior then missed the first from the line before draining the second for point No. 1,000.
Officials paused the game to honor the accomplishment. After a photo with her parents and a commemorative ball were presented, Seale and the Eagles turned their attention back to the court and solving the visiting Wildcats.
Seale became the last of four sisters to achieve the 1,000-point mark for the school, following Abbie, Anna and Phoebe. A brother, Eli Seale, also reached 1,000 for MVCS.
The middle two quarters belonged to MVCS as the hosts outscored Twin Valley, 36-12, to take control of the game. Seale finished with a game-high 20 points. Eighth-grader Hayley Goodwin added 14, freshman Nyah Jenks had 10 and freshman Sydney Goodwin had nine points.
“Not sure if we have had first-game jitters or what, but our offense came off our defense all night,” MVCS coach Chris Goodwin said. “We did a good job getting hands in passing lanes. Jenks made two 3-pointers to start the second half, and we were off the races.
“Everything got comfortable; we didn’t take any bad shots. I’m really happy with how we played in the second half. Hopefully that’s something we can build on.”
The Eagles (1-0) visit Chelsea on Tuesday.
Rivendell 50, Oxbow 9
Orford, Vt.
Riley Thomson had 16 points for Rivendell. Mikayla Stever added 11 points and eight steals. Mikayla DeBois had two points, five steals, seven assists and seven rebounds, and Sienna Carter came off the bench and contributed eight points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Raptors. Coach Hank Tenney praised the defensive effort of Jenna Gilbert (six points).
Mariah Shumway had six points for Oxbow (0-1). Both teams will be home on Friday night, when the Olympians host Springfield and Rivendell (1-0) hosts Thetford.
Mount Royal 41, Nute 24

Alexis Matte finished with 18 points, and Hannah Fraoili provided the remaining basket. Erin Diebold had four rebounds and a pair of assists for Mount Royal, which used a 16-point second quarter to reverse an 8-5 deficit after the first.
The Knights host Wilton-Lyndeborough on Tuesday.

Ryan drained five 3-pointers to account for all of her points. Taylor Soule added 11 points, and Catherine Beaupre had 10. KUA improved to 2-2 with the win.

Andrew Normandin led the way for Mount Royal, burying six trifectas en route to a game-high 29 points. Alex Normandin (17 points), Louis Larosaliere (13) and Kolbe Bocko (12) also had big offensive games for the visitors, who had a 45-12 lead by halftime.
Mount Royal is home to Wilton-Lyndeborough on Tuesday.

Fisher Kelley added 16 points. Josh Amodeo filled the stat sheet with eight points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and six steals, and Austin Gaudette had 14 points. Sharon led, 37-9, at halftime and will look for two in a row when West Rutland pays a visit on Friday night.
Cade Paquette led MVCS with nine points on a trio of 3-pointers. The Eagles (0-1) visit Christ Covenant on Saturday.

After struggling from the free throw line in their season opener, the Mountaineers shot 19-for-27 in beating the Golden Horde. Colby Washburn led Whitchester with 24 points, including 10 from the line. Eddie Bray added seven points.
The Mountaineers (1-1) host Northfield on Saturday.

East Montpelier, Vt.
Poulin netted three 3-pointers and posted a game-high 27 points, leading Williamstown to a win at U-32 High’s Corey Plante Tournament. Tyler Orton followed up with 19 for the Blue Devils, who have played in the last VPA Division III state finals, winning five of them.
“Their program is very good,” Hartford coach Steve Landon said. “Their program is built on basketball; that’s what they do.”
Dylan Tucker “had a great game,” Landon said, scoring a team-high 14 points for the Canes (0-2). Hunter Gaudette added 13 points, and Landon also credited Hunter Perkins’ play on defense.
Hartford returns to U-32 on Friday to play the host Raiders.
Hopkinton 60, Mascoma 25

Mascoma trailed, 33-8, at halftime. Tyler Warner led the visitors with five points. The Royals (1-1) look to regroup when they host Merrimack on Friday night.

Elias Zinman struck on the man-up in the first period and Owen Stadheim did the same in the third as Hanover built a 3-0 lead. David Lehmann scored in between, and Sylas Oberting added his first varsity goal into an empty net after the Lancers scored with two minutes left in regulation.
Matty Gardner had two assists for the Marauders, and Oberting, Lehmann, Braxton McNulty and Joey Goff earned one helper apiece.
“It was a strong performance from top to bottom, a total effort,” Hanover coach Dick Dodds said. “Each of the lines contributed. It was a great effort for our first game of the season.”
Hanover opens its Campion Rink home schedule against Salem on Saturday afternooon.

Tyler Hamilton and Clayton Groenewald both had two-goal, two-assist games for Hartford, which closed to within 5-3 entering the final period and was down, 6-5, late before St. Jay (1-1-0) netted an empty-net dagger.
Korrigan Allen provided Hartford’s other goal, Nick Cameron had an assist and goalies Ross McFate and Billy Mann combined on six saves.
Hartford heads to Jay Peak and a date with defending VPA Division II champion North Country on Saturday.

“It’s going to be a learning curve for a lot of the guys. We gave up a few quick goals in the second period and the game got away for us,” Lebanon-Stevens coach Jim Damren said.

Erin White, Elizabeth Jones and Julia Tibbits each added a goal and an assist. Celia Barnett had one goal. Mackayla O’Meara picked up three assists, and Lily Barber had one assist.
“We came out with a lot of energy. It was a good start (to the season),” Lebanon coach Brad Shaw said.
Goalies Halle Drew and Adrianna Maccioli combined to make 16 saves for the Raiders (1-0), who play host to Bishop Guertin on Saturday.

Kendyl Boisvert converted a Lauren Miller pass and Morgan Pero netted a Caitlin Gaudette assist for a quick 2-0 lead in the debut of new Hartford coach Bill Goldsworthy. Missisquoi (1-0-0) piled up 10 unanswered goals after that, with Alyssa Audet’s unassisted power-play goal in the middle stanza serving as the game-winner. Audet and Mae Gates both had hat tricks for the hosts.
Jacqueline Gour made 15 of her 28 saves in the opening period for Hartford, which hosts Spaulding in its home opener on Saturday.

Gavin Lovely won with a pin just 21 seconds into his match in the 195-pound weight class. Matt Hennig, Dylan Palmer and Jordan Warburton also won with pins. Josh Sharron won, 8-2, at 138 pounds.
“Winnisquam is a young, up-and-coming program. We knew we were going to have secure a number of pins in our contested matches; it just didn’t shake out in our favor tonight,” Newport coach Cole Boone said.
The Tigers will compete at the Hollis Brookline Nor’easter Invitational on Saturday.
