Terra Alta, W.Va. — Neal Robert Shute, 38, of Terra Alta and formerly of Hartland, Vt., died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pa.

The son of Robert G. and Robin L. Blaise Shute of Hartland, he was born Oct. 15, 1979, in Claremont, N.H.

Neal was a lover of animals; he had two birds and three dogs: Diesel, Bo and Girl. He also enjoyed his flower beds, which he spent a lot of time in, making them beautiful.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Evelyn Harlow of Claremont, N.H.; a sister and companion, Tara Stearns and Kevin Connors; a brother and spouse, Nathan B. and Sarah Shute; a special aunt, Anne Marie Alfonso; nieces and nephews: Samantha M. Stearns and companion Carry Dionne, Garran R. Dumas and companion Lexie West and Trevin and Kobin Shute; and great niece, Evelyn Dionne all of Hartland; his former spouse, Sarah R. Mattingly Flanagan of Winchester, VA; and best friends, Michael Hartley and Diane Strawser; plus many others friends.

To honor his wishes, cremation services will be provided with a celebration of his life at a later date at the family farm in Hartland.
