Windsor, Vt. —
She was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Montpelier, Vt. the daughter of Frank and May (Forbes) Hayden. She received her schooling in Montpelier.
She was married to the love of her life, Richard W. Tewksbury on Aug. 1, 1953, in Montpelier. On Aug. 22, 1954, their daughter, Barbara Ann was born. They moved to Florida in 1958, where Edith worked as a waitress for several years and was employed at Blue Goose Packing House in Clermont, Fla.
She and her husband moved to Georgia in 1980, where she worked at Sunbelt Nursery for eight years. Edith and her husband, Richard had their own 18 wheeler and she enjoyed going on the truck with him. Edith held a CDL license and would help with the driving and enjoyed seeing the countryside. When her husband passed away in 1996, she moved to Vermont to be near her daughter and son in law. She was employed at Longacres Nursery in Lebanon, N.H. for 14 years. She enjoyed working with plants and spending time with her family and friends. Edith had two poodles and a cat that she dotted on.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1996, her parents, four brothers, Richard, Andrew, Robert, and Harold and by three sisters, Marjorie, Elizabeth and Mildred.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Flinn of Ascutney, Vt.; three grandchildren, David Freeman of N.H., Debbie Freeman of Claremont, N.H. and Hannah and her husband, Brian Cornelius of Sheffield, Vt.; two great grandchildren, Britnee Flinn of St. Johnsbury, Vt. and Hunter Cornelius of Sheffield; several nieces and nephews. She was very close to her nephew and his wife, Bill and Terrie Hayden of Mass., and a longtime and close friend, Lillian Weed of Lebanon.
Special thanks to all the staff at the Stoughton House for all the love and care they gave to her in the eight months that she was there and to Bayada Hospice for all the care they did. Also special thanks to Nancy of Bayada, who was her social worker and had a great relationship with Edith.
At her request there will be no formal services. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date for family and friends.
