South Royalton, Vt. — Shirley A. Britch, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph Vt.  

Shirley was born on Oct. 19, 1934 in East Bethel, Vt. the daughter of George and Evelyn (Sumner) Illsley.

Raised by her grandmother, Mary Sumner, from the age of 9 Shirley attended school in Bethel and married William Britch on Feb. 16, 1952. She and William were later divorced.

Shirley worked at G.W. Plastics in Bethel for many years, continuing to do work for them even after her retirement until her health dictated that she stop.

There was nothing more important in Shriley’s life than her family and spending time with them all, gatherings were both important and fun filled. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles, word searches, and trips to the casino.

She is survived by her daughter Donna (Terry) Rogers of South Royalton, Vt., her son Myran (Virginia) Britch of Hartland, Vt., 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, 4 siblings; Sue (Elwood) Watson of Poultney, Vt., Steve Illsley of Mars Hill, Pa., Richard Illsley of Hampton, N.Y., and Letitia Champagne of Conn. She is pre deceased by a grandson, Joshua Britch and 4 siblings; Blanche Illsley, Nita Jackson, John Illsley, and Mark Illsley.

Shirley’s family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to: Last Mile Ride (Gifford Hospital), Potters Angels, and VNA Hospice.
