Featured Upper Valley artists include the textile artist Elizabeth Billings, of Tunbridge; photographer and printmaker Seth Goodwin, of Norwich; Alison Palizzolo, a Hopkinton, N.H.-based painter whoโs also the public relations coordinator of Dartmouthโs Hood Museum of Art, in Hanover; painter Marcia Santore, of Plymouth, N.H.; printmaker Marilyn Syme, of Pomfret; and sculptor Andrea Wasserman, of Vershire. Many of these artists will be in attendance, said Marianne Barthel, the arts program coordinator at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
Barthel also commissioned Sabra Field, the noted South Royalton printmaker, to design the stained glass window in the Jack Byrne Center chapel. Field also designed the stained glass in the chapel at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in the early 1990s.
Remarks will take place at 2:30, followed by an art tour of the building. The Jack Byrne Center is at 154 Hitchcock Loop Road.
David Fiskโs show, โChallenge and Happiness in Abstract Painting,โ is on view at the Tunbridge Public Library. A reception is planned for Sunday afternoon, 2 to 4. Fisk, who lives in Post Mills, uses abstract shapes and colors to create images that bring him joy. The show continues through Jan. 19.

ArtisTree Gallery in South Pomfret has put out a call for entries for its annual โSmall Worksโ Holiday show, which opens Dec. 2. The deadline for entries is Monday. The requirements and application are online at artistreevt.org/small-works-exhibit.

Chew & Co. Design, Hanover. The water photographs of Rockland, Maine, resident Joan Wright are on view through November.
Cider Hill Gardens and Gallery, Windsor. On view this month are sculpture, painting and installations by Steven Proctor, Herb Ferris, Gary Haven Smith and the Mythmakers.
Converse Free Library, Lyme. โLandscapes: Lyme and Tuscany,โ an exhibition of work by Greg Gorman in the Betty Grant Gallery, runs through Dec. 29. Gorman will donate 10 percent of his art sales to the Friends of Lyme Library.
Hall Art Foundation, Reading, Vt. โHope and Hazard: A Comedy of Eros,โ a show of more than 80 paintings on the subject of romantic and sexual love. โReady. Fire! Aim.,โ a collaboration between the foundation and Burlington City Arts; a solo show by David Shrigley; and outdoor sculpture by Richard Deacon, Olafur Eliasson and Marc Quinn are all on view through Nov. 26

Library Arts Center, Newport, N.H. The annual holiday exhibition โGallery of Gifts: Handmade Holiday Boutiqueโ is a good way to take in the range of beautifully crafted, handmade work by area artists and artisans. The exhibit and sale run through Dec. 23.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Hanover. โEast Meets West,โ a show of brush paintings on silk and etchings by, respectively, Ann and Bruce Peck, is on view through Dec. 20.
