Hanover, N.H. —
She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Amesbury, Mass., the daughter of Arthur J. Garneau and Lydia (Hamel). She was a graduate of Amesbury High School class of 1944.
Irene was devoted to her family and a generous and faithful friend to many. She was a great cook, an accomplished knitter and loved listening to the music of the 1940’s.
She was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 54 years, David F. Collins and their daughter, Michele J. Collins in 1990. She grew up in a loving and tight-knit French-Canadian family and was predeceased by her five siblings, Robert Garneau, George Garneau, Rita Hamel, Cecile Garneau, and Louise Wells.
She is survived by two nieces, Barbara Wells of Lebanon and Roberta Chamberlin of Claremont, and a nephew George Garneau.
Following Irene’s request there will be no service. A private interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport, Mass., at a future date.
