Lonnie was born on Aug. 22, 1935, in Windsor, Vt. Lonnie served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 through 1957. In his civilian life, Lonnie was a Mason during his years in Vermont and Connecticut, and Property and Maintenance Manager in Southern California. Football was a big part of Lonnie’s life and he was a life-long N.Y. Giants fan. In the last two decades Lonnie has enjoyed golfing, hiking, each and every N.Y. Giants football season, his grand daughter’s basketball tournaments and move to college, and watching over his family.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mitchell Lozo from Claremont, N.H.; his mother, Cressa Lord and stepfather, Charles Benton, both from Windsor; sister, Leona Reynolds from Southbury, Conn., and sister, Priscilla Spencer from Windsor.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorraine (Noel) Lozo from Mission Viejo, Calif.; children: Larry Lozo from Orange, Calif., Christopher Mitchell from Aliso Viejo, Calif., Lindy Mitchell from Aliso Viejo, and Suzi Noel Vallas from Salem, Oregon; granddaughter, Jessica Lozo from Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Linda Benton from Portsmouth, N.H.; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved granddogs, Sophie, Louie, and Abby.
A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Clubhouse at Village Greens, 24122 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.
Lonnie was a champion of animal rights, animal rescue, protection and well-being. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in memory of Lonnie to The Barn Sanctuary https://www.barnsanctuary.org/.
