Thetford Center, Vt. — Charlene May Wright Bragg, 74, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2017, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

She was born May 10, 1943, in Hanover, N.H. the daughter of Alfred and Virginia (Shepherd) Wright. Charlene grew up and attended school in Hartford. After graduation from Hartford High School she married Ralph “Peter” E. Bragg Jr. on Oct. 21, 1961, in the West Lebanon Congregational Church. During Peter’s work in construction they moved between New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts before finally settling in Thetford Center in the early 1960’s. Charlene and Peter built their home on Route 132 where they lived and raised their family.

Charlene was a stay at home mom raising their five children. Once her children had finished with school she went to work at McNamara Motors as a bookkeeper. Following McNamara’s going out of business she went to work for Dartmouth College where she was employed for the next 15 years, retiring in 2006.

Charlene enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, collecting family photographs, and traveling with her husband. Together they went on twenty three cruises, three through the Panama Canal, two transatlantic, and at least one to every one of the Caribbean Islands with the exception of Trinidad. Even more than travelling, Charlene loved spending time with her family. She was her happiest at family picnics, barbeques, camping trips to Silver Lake and the Maine coast. After Retirement she and Peter loved camping at their daughter’s cabin in Newark, Vt.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Amy Lyn Bragg who died in 1968.

She is survived by her husband, Peter of 55 years; their four daughters, Tammie A.B. Hazlett and her husband, Bernie Hazlett of Thetford Center, Ginger L. Bragg of Thetford, Vt., Lisa M. Bragg of Strafford, Vt., Bonnie J. Bergeron and her husband, Claude Bergeron of Strafford; a son, Todd E. Bragg and his wife, Shelly Bragg of Canaan, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a half brother, Alfred Wright Jr. of Sharon, Vt.; and a half sister, Suzanne Melendy of Sharon.

A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at the North Thetford Cemetery in North Thetford, Vt.
