Claremont
If you’re curious about Chellis, a prominent Claremont farmer, and other past Claremont residents of note, including restaurant owner Sig Heller and bank president Frank Foster, be sure to attend a showing of Spirits of Claremont on Air, an Off Broad Street Players production this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Amplified Arts.
“The names pop up in town and there are reasons for it,” said Sharon Wood, the nonprofit theater company’s director. “We’re pretty excited about it. It’s a new venture and new creation.”
The production was inspired by the popular cemetery tours the organization conducted along with the Claremont Historical Society and will be performed like a classic old-time radio show.
“We focus on what they did, how they impacted Claremont,” Wood said. “It’s Claremont history brought to life.”
The audience will sit on the stage, close to the performers, leading to what Wood hopes will be an intimate and personal performance.
“I think people do gain a new appreciation for past Claremont residents and their accomplishments,” Wood said.
The performances take place at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Amplified Arts at 31 Pleasant St. (If attending on Friday night, be sure to use the Franklin Street entrance.) Tickets cost $12 and can be purchased in advance at amplifiedartsnh.com. For more information, call 603-542-6454.
