Newport
The free program, called Parent Café, will focus on improving parenting skills around five factors: resilience, social connections, support, communication and knowledge of parenting and child development. Strengthening these areas has been shown to help families more effectively deal with stress and to reduce risks within a family, the resource center said in a news release.
The group will be facilitated by parent educators from TLC Family Resource Center and led by parents.
Parent Café will be held at Assumption Hall, 40 School St., Newport, beginning Oct. 19 at 1:45 p.m. Children are welcome to attend, and those at school in the Newport district will be brought to the hall at the end of the school day if their parents are participating. Snacks will be provided for parents and children.
