Grantham — A former labor negotiator for New Hampshire’s largest teachers union likely will face off against a homeschooling advocate in a special election for a Sullivan 1 House seat in November.

Grantham Democrat Brian Sullivan was far outpacing Cody Dziegelewski, also of Grantham, in a primary on Tuesday for the open seat, which represents the towns of Grantham, Cornish, Plainfield and Springfield. With reports from Plainfield and Grantham, the two largest towns available, Sullivan had 373 votes to 17 for Dziegelewski.

Plainfield Republican Margaret Drye, a former chairwoman of the Hanover Consumer Cooperative Society’s Board of Directors, was unopposed in the Republican primary.

Sullivan recently retired after working for 25 years as a negotiator for the NH-NEA. Drye has homeschooled her nine children and also serves as an EMT for the Cornish Rescue Squad.

The special election will be held on Nov. 7.
