Tucson, Ariz. — Milton L. White, 88, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. Born and raised in Vermont, son of Maude and Guy White. He was a 1947 graduate of Thetford Academy, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served in the Korean War, awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered on March 2, 1951 as a member of the First Marines, First Division. Following several months recovering in Naval hospitals, he continued his service to the Marines until honorably discharged in 1954. Two years later, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, served 17 years, received several awards including the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Milt and Barbara Huckins were married at St. Denis Church, Hanover, N.H. on July 4, 1959. Following his retirement from the Air Force, the family settled in Fairlee, Vt. He was employed 17 years in the Support Services Division of the Veteran’s Administration in White River Jct., Vt.

His memberships included the Board of Directors of the VTVAF Credit Union (Chairman), Fairlee Budget Committee, West Fairlee Historical Society (President), Green Mountain Folklore Society, Lake Morey Country Club, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church choir in Bradford, VT, and the Tucson Society of the Blind. He and Barbara moved to Tucson in 2003.

In his youth, Milt enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing baseball; later in life, golf, cross-country skiing, and travel for pleasure. He loved his family, community, his country, and baseball.

He was predeceased by a young son Jeffrey Bryant White and an infant son Brian James White.

Survivors are his wife Barbara of 58 years; daughter, Sandra White (John Venet); son, John White (Jennifer Michniewicz); and grandchildren, Nathan Venet, Kaliana Venet, Maggie White, Libby White and Gregory Totaro. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon “Dick” White; sisters, Lorraine White Pearson and Joyce White Farnham (Keith); nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Mass will be offered Sept. 28, 11 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N Shannon Rd., Tucson.
