Barre, Vt. —
Born May 9, 1929, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., she was the daughter of Archie and Julia (Collins) LaPoint. Joyce attended Spaulding High School.
On March 8, 1947, Joyce married Laurel Ray Danforth in the Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre. Following their marriage, they lived in several central Vermont areas, including Fairlee and East Barre. He died June 5, 2000.
Joyce worked for Capitol Stationers in charge of the book department and worked for several other businesses in the Central Vermont area. She later worked in the cashier department for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in both Hanover, N.H. and Lebanon, N.H. for approximately 15 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Danforth and his wife, Christine of Concord, N.H.; grandchildren, Shaun Danforth and his wife, Heidi and their son Bailey; Heather Danforth; Erin Tsiatsios and her husband, Tim and their daughter Isla; Jeffrey Sauvigne and his wife, Michelle; Nicole Heimarck and her husband, Steven and their children; her sister, Dorothy “Dot” Lamb of Berlin; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Sharen Danforth Sauvigne; her brothers Avery LaPoint, Clayton LaPoint, Floyd “Bud” LaPoint; and her sister Pearl Chase.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Hedding United Methodist Church, 40 Washington Street, Barre. Following the service, interment will take place at Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
