Bradford, Vt. — The bridge carrying Route 25B over the Waits River reopened to traffic Wednesday morning, two days ahead of schedule as part of a $2.36 million bridge replacement.

The new span in Bradford replaced a bridge built in 1933. Vermont transportation officials said traffic on Route 25B at the bridge will be reduced to one lane with alternating one-way traffic through the week of Sept. 11.

Elsewhere around Bradford, New Hampshire officials say the Route 25 bridge across the Connecticut River to Piermont closed on Sept. 5 as part of a $319,000 project to resurface the deck and make other improvements. That bridge is expected to reopen to traffic between Bradford and Piermont on Sept. 22.
