South Royalton, Vt. — James Robert “J.R.” Arbuckle, 38 died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, in South Royalton from injuries sustained in a car accident.

He was born Aug. 18, 1978, in Hope, R.I. the son of James W. Arbuckle, Jr. and Roberta (Hilliker) Arbuckle. He attended Whitcomb High School in Bethel, Vt. He grew up in the Central Vermont area, living in many different towns.

J.R. was a drywall installer, working for several area construction crews. He loved to work on things and he was a “tinkerer and putterer.”

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Roberta and Tim Staples of Bethel; a son, Skyler Arbuckle and his mother Melissa Pratt of Intercession City, Fla.; his girlfriend, Dusti Holbrook of South Royalton; a brother, Timothy Staples of South Royalton; three sisters, Linda Arbuckle and her fiance, Randall Manning of South Royalton, Heidi Pelkey of Kentucky and Shannon Arbuckle of Northfield, Vt.; his life-long best friend, Tyler Leach of Bethel; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father James W. Arbuckle, Jr. and his stepfather Dave Nason.
