“We want to give back to our community,” said Vermont Chamber Artists Director Jessica Pierpont. “We really want to generate a scene that is really contributing to helping people.”
The Summer Fiesta will take place on Friday, from 3-9 p.m., at the Tunbridge Town Hall, 271 Route 110, which includes refreshments. Tickets cost $5-$15. The proceeds will support both organizations.
Vermont Chamber Artists is a nonprofit organization that is operates under Seven Stars Performing Arts Center in Sharon.
The last organization the choir partnered with was Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Pierpont said the decision to support White River Junction-based Friends of Veterans came after she noticed many of the choir’s member had connections to veterans.
“We want to do something for other people and part of the reason why music is so powerful is this idea that people are going through similar things,” Pierpont said.
The concert’s cause may also attract people who otherwise wouldn’t attend a classical music performance.
“People who haven’t experienced classical music might experience classical music now and they will be giving back to our choral scene,” Pierpont said. “They’re not only supporting the arts, they’re supporting a cause that’s worth fighting for.”
