Scott, a Republican, said the storms played a financial burden on the communities. He said a federal disaster declaration is warranted.
The request would cover damage suffered in Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Orange, Rutland, Washington and Windsor counties.
A preliminary damage assessment done by the Federal Emergency Management Agency identified about $4.7 million in damage to public infrastructure.
If granted, a disaster declaration would enable affected communities to be reimbursed for 75 percent of the costs of the response to the storm and recovery.
