Thetford Center, Vt. —
He was born Oct. 14, 1938, in Barre, Vt. the son of Rowland C. and Blanche M. (Templeton) Eastman. He attended school in Strafford, Vt. and went to work at a young age. He worked for Carroll Coburn of Strafford, the state highway crew and then from 1960 until he retired in 2004 for Dartmouth College as a Supervisor of Dorms in the Residential Life Department.
He was a member of the Hartford Elks Club. He enjoyed flowers, flower gardening, vegetable gardening, camping, growing potatoes, music, dancing, watching his grandsons play softball, playing guitar and harmonica, spending time at Watson’s Garage and with his family. His greatest love was spending time with his great grandson, Brody.
He is survived by his son, Brian Eastman and his wife, Crystal of Bradford; two grandsons, Shawn Eric Eastman and his girlfriend, Taren Gendron of Corinth, Vt. and Cody Alan Eastman, his wife, Hayle and their son, Brody, all of Newbury, Vt.; four brothers Robert Eastman of Florida, Edwin Eastman and Richard Eastman both of Strafford, Vt. and William Eastman of Chester, Vt.; his good friend and caregiver, Deborah Hodge of Bradford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Fred Eastman and a sister, Marilyn White.
There are no public calling hours. A private graveside funeral service will be held at a later date at the Thetford Center Cemetery in Thetford, Vt.
