The bride-to-be graduated from Hanover High School in 1999 and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Vermont in 2003. She earned a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, now known as Sofia University, in Palo Alto, Calif., in 2011. She is in private practice as a marriage and family therapist in San Francisco.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Karen and Kenji Akahoshi, of San Diego and San Jose, Calif. He earned a bachelor’s degree in social science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He earned a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and is in private practice as a marriage and family therapist in San Francisco.
The couple live in San Francisco and plan an August wedding in Watsonville, Calif.
