William Osborne, of Poultney, Vt., allegedly was weaving in and out of traffic and traveling between 70 and 90 mph around 8 a.m. on April 27 before crashing his vehicle near the intersection of Echo Ledge Road, according to a police affidavit filed in Windsor Superior Court in White River Junction.
The speed limit in that section is posted at 45 mph, police said.
Osborne was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with unknown injuries. In the days after the crash, he told police he didn’t remember the incident or the events leading up to it. Osborne said he was traveling from Rutland to Hanover at the time.
In addition to excessive speed, he also pleaded not guilty to careless or negligent operation, reckless or gross negligent operation and reckless endangerment. His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.
