Haverhill, N.H. —
Ruth was born in Bath, N.H., on Oct. 27, 1931, to Ralph E. and Arlene Marjorie (Sandstrom) Simmons, Sr. She was a graduate of Wells River High School, Class of 1949.
Ruth assisted her husband, Louis Pike, in operating the Pike Station Store for many years and after retiring, she was the cook at the Grafton County Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Sunshine Bowling League and the IONA-Lafayette Chapter OES. She enjoyed her home immensely, especially when entertaining family and friends with cookouts and gatherings.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis T. Pike on Feb. 3, 1992; three sisters, Lorayne M. Tetreault, Rachel A. Bishop, and Eleanor Bowles; and two brothers, Roger Simmons and Charles Simmons.
She is survived by three children, Arlene Horton and husband John of Haverhill, Chester Wyman and wife Debbie of Haverhill, and Marina Brock and friend Sanford of West Hyannisport, Mass.; a brother, Ralph E. Simmons, Jr. and husband Clay Marshia of Waterbury, Vt.; Ruth’s devoted and loving companion, Nick Ianno of Landaff, N.H.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a calling hour on Monday, June 12 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Rev. Rebecca Larson, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Wells River Cemetery.
