Grantham, N.H. — Born on Jan. 24, 1948, my father lost a fight on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. The only fight he ever lost.

My father walked through life with the ability to climb out of every mess unscathed, reach for dreams then be able to hold them in his hands and also sit in front of me at the end and tell me that he has no list of regrets. He lived his life by his own set of rules and let no one tell him that something was impossible. With determination, hard work and little “Dad Magic” anything was obtainable.

He fought hard, but cancer is a cruel and heartless reality that way too many come face to face with.

There are many that will miss him with holes in their hearts that will never heal but they will stuff them to the brim with the memories and love that my father has given to them. His wife of 37 years Deb Roberts, his children Josh & Jeanine Roberts, Jenna & Aaron Luce and Sean Roberts, his grandchildren Jett Luce, Ava Roberts and Hazel Roberts, his lifelong fishing partner his cousin Larry Chiasson and countless friends that are beyond the definition of friend, they are family.

As he demanded there will not be a funeral because…

“I don’t want a bunch of people standing around talking about what a great guy I was.”

We instead will be privately celebrating his life at a party he would of gladly attended.

There are things that he will miss and conversations that I will wish that I could have had with him but I know that at that moment right after the moon goes to bed but the sun is not quite ready to make its debut, that’s when the fish will be biting and that’s where he will be waiting.

“Long you live & high you’ll fly & smiles you’ll give & tears you’ll cry & all you touch & all you see is all your life will ever be” Pink Floyd

I love you Daddy.
