West Lebanon, N.H. — Marion M Daly, 94, a longtime resident of Medford, Mass., and recently West Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 2017, at Valley Terrace in Wilder, Vt., surrounded by four of her daughters. Marion was born on July 14, 1922, in Malden, Mass., along with her twin sister, Mildred Collins, to John T Collins, Sr. and Mary (O’Malley) Collins. She moved to West Lebanon in May of 2007 to be near her children.

Marion is the loving mother of Mary F. Magnell (James) of Canaan, N.H.; Maureen Serrecchia (Joseph) of Byfield, Mass.; Patricia A. O’Neill (Bernard) of Fort Myers, Fla.; Barbara J. Frazier (Joseph) of Canaan; Eileen DeCoff (Peter) of Hartford, Vt. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Lynn Daly of Thetford, Vt.; her sister, Frances Avenell of Virginia Beach, Va.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Marion grew up in Saxonville, Mass., on a farm. Later, moving to Medford, Mass., she met and married her lifelong partner of 56 years, Frank Daly. Separated by Frank’s Marine Corp training & service, Marion worked in an airplane factory and earned the title of “Rosie Riveter.” Although her career as a homemaker kept her extremely busy, she ventured out to work in the candy industry as well. She was most known for her volunteerism – the American Legion Auxiliary, the Bedford VA Hospital, the Chelsea Soldier’s Home and the State National Guard Family Program. She loved crafts and always had a needlepoint or beading project going.

Marion moved to Quail Hollow in West Lebanon in May of 2007 to be closer to several of her children and loved the peaceful surroundings.

Marion was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Frank J. Daly; her son, John M. Daly; parents, John T. Collins, Sr., & Mary M. Collins; her twin sister, Mildred Collins; her brothers, John T. Collins, Jr.; and George Collins; and sister, Margaret Prestijohn.

Services were held in Medford, Mass., with a funeral Mass held on May 23, at St. Rapheal’s Church, West Medford and internment following in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Due to Marion’s devotion to the military and veterans, donations in her memory would be appreciated, in lieu of flowers, to Fisher House which provides Active Duty, Veterans and their families housing close to their loved one during hospitalization.
