Wayne Keough faces charges of robbery, reckless conduct and simple assault out of the Newport-based courthouse in connection with an alleged carjacking at the Claremont Wal-Mart in April. He, however, is currently housed at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, Vt., the town where he allegedly led police on a chase after police said he stole a vehicle at knifepoint.
Sullivan County Attorney Marc Hathaway said on Thursday that he requested and the court granted a warrant for Keough’s arrest.
Keough will likely stay in Vermont until he resolves that state’s charges, which include eluding, driving under the influence (third offense), resisting arrest (subsequent offense) and operating a vehicle with a suspended license in connection with the police chase. At that time, Keough was on escape status from Southern State for failing to abide by residence and curfew restrictions in another court case.
Keough is being held in Vermont on $100,000 bail. He has a status conference on May 16 in Windsor Superior Court in White River Junction.
No further hearings have been set in his New Hampshire case.
