Newbury, Vt. — Mildred Alice Williams, 93, of Snake Road, died following a period of failing health, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, N.H.

Mildred was born in Lancaster, N.H., on Feb. 26, 1924, to Irving and Flora (Walker) Hodgdon. On May 12, 1943, she married Norman Williams.

Mildred worked for Bradford Veneer, and manufactured condensers at both Rock of Ages and New England Industries.

She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Bradford, Vt., and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5245 of North Haverhill, N.H. Mildred bowled in the senior league with the Happy Bowlers. Along with her husband, Norman, she delivered the Valley News to area residents for over twenty years.

Above all, Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman on March 19, 1985; a daughter, Daletta Hobbs; two daughters-in-law, Eileen Williams and Cathrine Williams; a grandson, Jeffrey Southworth; a sister, Violet Hazlett; and three brothers, Kenneth, George, and William Hodgdon.

Mildred is survived by her children, Dale Williams and Deb of Newbury, Terry Williams, Sr. and Mary of North Haverhill, Audrey Hobbs of Yarmouth, Maine, Vicki Southworth and husband Paul of Post Mills, Vt., and Dawn Thornton and husband Doug of Bath, N.H.; eighteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Mildred’s request, there will be no public services.
