Bradford, Vt. — Leslie Carbee, 79, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1937, in Ryegate, Vt. the son of William and Leila (Gabaree) Carbee. He attended schools and grew up in Ryegate. On April 2, 1955, he was married to Elsie Chase who survives.

He had been employed for Whiting’s Dairy, Hilltop Dairy, Billings Dairy for over 20 years and for Perry’s Oil Company for almost 20 years. He loved family, gardening, hunting and sports.

He is survived by his wife Elsie of Bradford; his children, Kim Darby and husband, Roy of St. Johnsbury, Vt., William D. (Bill) Carbee and his wife, Debbie of Woodsville, N.H., Peter Carbee and his wife, Linda of Groton, Vt., Cindy Carbee of Thetford, Vt. and Marsha Trischman and husband, Keith of Corinth, Vt.; one stepson, Tim Chase of Navarra, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Poore of Lisbon, N.H., Donna Carbee of Groton, Vt., and Beverly Fresn of St. Albans, Vt., one half-sister, Isabelle Downing of Bradford; and one brother, Everett Carbee of St. Johnsbury. He was predeceased by one son, Victor Carbee in 1981; and one brother, Donald Carbee; four half-brothers and 14 half-sisters; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church in Bradford. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening April 12, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford. Burial will be held at a later date in the family lot in the Ryegate Corner Cemetery.
