Randolph — Stagecoach Transportation Services will host a series of public meetings this month to discuss a proposed merger with Middlebury, Vt.-based Addison County Transit Resources.

The meetings are set for Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., at the Bradford (Vt.) Academy Building; April 18, at 5:30 p.m., at the Royalton Academy Building; and April 19, at 5:30 p.m., at the Stagecoach Depot in Randolph.

The meetings will include information about the proposed merger, with time for questions.

Similar meetings are scheduled in the Middlebury area.

The organizations are examining the proposal to ensure all questions are identified and addressed, according to a news release from Stagecoach. That process is expected to be completed by late spring, followed soon after by a vote.

Stagecoach has been managed by the Addison County organization since 2014, following a leadership shakeup at the Randolph nonprofit.

The two organizations announced earlier this year that they would explore the possibility of merging.

So far, their partnership has resulted in improved services, higher ridership and greater financial stability, the release said. “The merger will create a more streamlined, efficient organization behind the scenes, with no changes to on-the-street services.”

Stagecoach provides community transportation services in 29 communities in Orange County and northern Windsor County. Its mission will remain unchanged, according to the release.

Neither organization anticipates any job losses.

People requiring transportation to the South Royalton or Randolph meetings should call 802-728-3773 by April 14 to arrange a ride.
