Woodstock, Vt. — Marjorie Edna Cleveland Swain died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in Woodstock. She was born April 14, 1916, in Reading, Vt., the daughter of Edith Perkins Cleveland and Clarence Erle Cleveland. She attended Woodstock High School for two years and graduated from Springfield High School in 1934. Marjorie married Loring R. Swain of Andover, Maine, at her parents’ home in Reading on January 23, 1949.

Survivors include three granddaughters, two great-grandsons, two nieces, a nephew and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Loring R. Swain; her brother, Leon M. Cleveland; and her son, Scott P. Swain.

At Marjorie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Burial will be at the convenience of her family. If desired, donations may be made to the Children’s Literacy Foundation, 1536 Loomis Hill Road, Waterbury Center, VT 05677 or to a charity of your choice.
