Claremont — In addition to the school warrant that will be voted on at Tuesday’s annual school meeting, voters also will decide on four charter amendments.

Three amendments are related to the city’s change a couple of years ago to a budget year that begins July 1 and ends June 30. The budget year previously went from January to December.

One gives the council the authority to change the fiscal and budget year by ordinance; the second aligns the budget submission with the fiscal year; and the third requires the budget to be adopted prior to the start of the fiscal year.

The City Council approved the changes for the ballot.

The fourth amendment changes the residency requirement for the police and fire chiefs and the public works director. It would require those officials to live within 15 minutes’ travel time of their respective offices instead of in Claremont, as is currently required.

Poll are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Claremont Middle School for Wards I and II, and at Disnard Elementary School for Ward III.
