Hanover, N.H. — Mary Virginia (Thompson) Cadbury passed away peacefully at Kendal at Hanover in the comforting and loving presence of her two daughters in her 101st year, on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

Ginny was born July 30, 1916, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Edward Everett and Edith Crowther Thompson. She graduated from the Waco schools and attended Baylor University. In 1936, she moved to Philadelphia and graduated from Peirce Business School.

In 1940, she married B. Bartram Cadbury, a science teacher at Friends Select School in Philadelphia.

They moved to Farmington, Conn., and during their 25 years there, she was Administrative Assistant in the College Prepartory Department of Miss Porter’s School, and was Conservation Chairman of the Farmington Garden Club.

After retirement to their home in Cushing, Maine, in 1974, she became a member of the Guild of the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, the Cushing Historical Society, and was for 13 years Membership Chair of the Mid-Coast Audubon, the local chapter of the National Audubon Society.

Summers were spent in Maine where Bart taught Marine Life and she was secretary to the Director of the Audubon Camp, National Audubon Society’s camp for teachers and youth leaders.

After a second retirement to Kendal at Hanover in New Hampshire in 1995, she became involved in volunteer activities there, with her main focus being the library.

She leaves her two daughters, Elizabeth Cadbury of Pittsfield, N.H., and Margaret Cadbury of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
