White River Junction — A 59-year-old Claremont man has pleaded not guilty to felony kidnapping and extortion charges in connection with an incident last October in Springfield, Vt.

Windsor Superior Court Judge Theresa DiMauro released William J. Dalling on a $25,000 unsecured appearance bond at his Tuesday arraignment.

Dalling allegedly used the threat of physical violence to force a 52-year-old woman into a vehicle outside a Springfield home in October 2016, according to a police affidavit. Dalling, his girlfriend and another woman were allegedly trying to get money from the woman’s daughter, the affidavit states.

Police said Dalling, who allegedly is affiliated with the Hells Angels motorcycle club, ultimately let the woman go. He is scheduled to next appear in the White River Junction courthouse on March 21. Dalling has two prior felony convictions in Windsor County — first degree unlawful restraint and burglary — stemming from an incident in 2000, court records indicate.
