Boston — Tuukka Rask posted his first career regular-season home win over Montreal by making 25 saves for his sixth shutout, 39-year-old Zdeno Chara had an impressive move on his short-handed goal and the Boston Bruins improved to 3-0 under interim coach Bruce Cassidy with a 4-0 victory over the Canadiens on Sunday night.

Adam McQuaid, David Krejci and Frank Vatrano also scored for Boston, which won for the sixth time in eight games. Rask entered 0-9-3 at TD Garden during the regular season against Montreal.

Cassidy replaced fired coach Claude Julien earlier in the week. Julien was in his 10th season with the team and led them to the 2011 Stanley Cup.

Wild 6, Red Wings 3

St. Paul, Minn. — Zach Parise scored twice and Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves to help Western Conference-leading Minnesota beat Detroit.

Charlie Coyle added a goal and an assist, and the Wild scored three power-play goals in four chances. Minnesota leads Chicago by five points and has played two fewer games than the Blackhawks.

Anthony Mantha had a goal and an assist for Detroit, Henrik Zetterberg and Andreas Athanasiou also scored, and Jared Coreau made 23 saves. The Red Wings have lost four straight and have the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Islanders 5, Avalanche 1

New York — Anders Lee scored two of New York’s three third-period goals to lead the Islanders past NHL-worst Colorado.

Nick Leddy had a goal and two assists, Ryan Strome and Jason Chimera also scored, and Jean-Francois Berube stopped 25 shots.

Predators 5, Stars 3

Nashville, Tenn. — Filip Forsberg scored a short-handed goal 6:02 into the third period and the Nashville Predators overcame a three-goal deficit to beat Dallas.

Roman Josi scored twice, Calle Jarnkrok had the tying goal 4:40 into the third, and Mike Fisher added an empty-netter with 1:38 left.

Sharks 4, Devils 1

Newark, n.j. — Brent Burns scored two goals and San Jose beat New Jersey to snap a four-game losing streak.

Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, Kevin Labanc added two assists, and Tomas Hertl had an empty-net tally late in the third period.

Canucks 4, Sabres 2

Buffalo, n.y. — Alexandre Burrows scored a goal and got under Buffalo’s skin with his pesky play, lifting Vancouver to the win.

Burrows scored the go-ahead goal five minutes into the second period and also had an assist.

In the first period, Burrows slashed and shoved Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner, and Lehner retaliated with a shove. After the two were separated, Sabres defenseman Justin Falk took a high-speed run at Burrows and bowled him over.

Lehner, Falk and Burrows were penalized for roughing, and Vancouver’s Bo Horvat scored on the ensuing power play by deflecting Ben Sutton’s shot in.

Michael Chaput scored twice and Horvat added an assist, helping the Canucks to their second win in seven games. Jacob Markstrom stopped 26 shots filling in for starter Ryan Miller, who allowed four goals on 30 shots in a loss to Boston on Saturday.

Tyler Ennis and Kyle Okposo scored for Buffalo, and Lehner had 27 saves.
